Women's role in productionSun-drying, sorting by size and colour, de-stalking and grinding at the Guntur mandi and its feeder villages is overwhelmingly women's piecework, including through women's labour cooperatives that supply the spice-powder trade.

Why this fits a low-wastage SHG model: Sun-dried whole chillies store for well over a year with basic moisture control, letting a producer collective smooth out price swings across a season instead of being forced to sell fresh.
